What it is
A specialized speech-language assessment delivered remotely by a speech-language pathologist, covering expressive and receptive language, articulation, and communication skills. The number of assessment sessions is set by your child's condition and diagnostic needs, and the sessions run by observation during ABA sessions so skills are assessed in the child's natural environment. The findings are issued in a comprehensive report with treatment recommendations.
Who it's for
This assessment suits children whose families notice one or more of these signs:
- Delayed expressive language or a limited vocabulary relative to age
- Difficulty producing sounds or being understood
- Challenges understanding language and following instructions
- A need to assess social and functional communication skills within the child's plan
How sessions work
The assessment follows a clear path, from records review to the start of the plan:
Initial records review
The speech-language pathologist reviews all available assessments and information about the child to establish the initial need — with the family's consent.
Setting the number of sessions
The number of assessment sessions is set based on the child's condition and diagnostic needs.
Observation-based assessment sessions
Focused remote sessions covering articulation, expressive and receptive language, and communication skills — run during an ABA session so target skills are observed in a natural environment.
The final report
A detailed report setting out the child's strengths, areas of need, recommended goals, and the intervention plan.
Starting the plan
The plan starts right after the report is issued: the ABA team applies it within sessions, tracking goals systematically and updating procedures as the child responds and progresses.
Re-assessment when needed
Conducted when needed within 3–6 months of starting the plan to measure progress and update goals — or skipped when follow-up data is enough, with the plan updated instead.
